How long should I use Motherlove vegetarian capsules?
Every mother's needs vary. Some women are able to use these products for a short time to increase their milk supply, and when supply and demand takes over, no additional product is needed. Others, once their milk supply increases to the desired level, are able to decrease the amount or number of doses per day to maintain the desired supply of breast milk. Some women may need to use Motherlove's lactation products the entire time they are nursing to maintain their milk supply. We encourage women to use the amount that best meets their baby's growing demands.
To Help Women increase their supply of Milk Galactogogue herbs have gained a reputation for increasing breast milk from years of historical use. Drink teas or take the following herbs: fenugreek, blessed thistle, nettle, anise, dill, fennel seed, goat's rue, raspberry leaf, and alfalfa. Avoid parsley and sage, which decrease breast milk.
Fenugreek and Breastfeeding Fenugreek seeds contain hormone precursors that increase milk supply. Scientists do not know for sure how this happens. Some believe it is possible because breasts are modified sweat glands, and fenugreek stimulates sweat production. It has been found that fenugreek can increase a nursing mother's milk supply within 24 to 72 hours after first taking the herb. Once an adequate level of milk production is reached, most women can discontinue the fenugreek and maintain the milk supply with adequate breast stimulation.
Don't abandon the important benefits of breastfeeding because of concerns that your baby is not getting enough milk.
Discuss product use with a lactation consultant. Any ingested food has the potential for an allergic reaction. Discontinue use if side effects appear.
